CFP rankings 2026: Ole Miss ranks No. 10 in first playoff rankings

The first College Football Playoff rankings for the 2026 season were revealed on Tuesday with Ole Miss grabbing the ten spot after quality wins against LSU and Missouri earlier this season.

The Rebels (6-2, 4-2 SEC) are one of three two-loss SEC teams to be in the top 12. Georgia is the highest ranked SEC team projected currently as the potential conference champion in one of the top four seeds at number two.

If the season ended today, Ole Miss and Texas would have a rematch with the winner moving on to play Georgia in the quarterfinals. This scenario is obviously not going to happen as the Rebels and Bulldogs play this upcoming Saturday in Oxford.

What is abundantly clear now for Ole Miss is that the path to the CFP this year is winning out. A loss even to number two Georgia would topple them out of the top 12, and with three games against unranked teams, it would likely not help enough to move them back up the rankings.

Ole Miss is looking to return to the CFP for a second consecutive year after a dream run last year where it beat Tulane in Oxford, then stunned Georgia in the Sugar Bowl – all under newly minted head coach Pete Golding.

And of course we can’t talk about all this without mentioning how you can get paid in the process.

FanDuel Sportsbook now has Ole Miss at +1600 to win the National Championship, good for ninth highest in the country. Rebel signal caller Trinidad Chambliss currently sits at +1200 to win the Heisman Trophy, which is fifth highest currently.

Now for the CFP futures Ole Miss is sitting at -195 nearly 2 to 1 odds to make the playoff. So maybe the oddsmakers are thinking a little more chaos could be in store this college football season. The Rebels may end up needing some of that chaos when its all said and done.
