The latest Hindi crime drama, Chaar Yaar, has finally been announced. While details around the direction of the narrative have been kept under wraps, we get a glimpse of the poster featuring the four stars, including Purav Jha, Naman Jain, Saqib Ayub and Prayrak Mehta, who will be playing the four friends (chaar yaar).
But that’s not all. Further on, an ensemble of talents from the industry are playing supporting roles, including Chunky Panday, Sai Tamhankar, Sikandar Kher, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Rajesh Tailang and Bhagavathi Perumal. Under the production of Pranati Nagarsheth, Niraj Nagarsheth and P.S. Shyam, the banner of Pink Window Production Pvt. Ltd., and developed by BBC Studios India, the series Chaar Yaar is directed by Vinay Waikul and written by Sambit Mishra and Saurabh Sawant.
Chaar Yaar produces a gritty and dramatic theme dating back to the early 20s in Mumbai.
We take a spin with the four friends, Jay, Tony, Saahil, and Sameer and navigate through the hidden realities of middle-class life, responsibilities, and ambitions fuelled by the desire for a better future. As push comes to shove, and desperation meets immediacy, they find themselves in the middle of a world filled with crimes, gangsters, and a relentless escape from the hands of the law. The situation quickly shifts out of their grasp, and danger lurks at every corner.
Vinay Waikul is no stranger to this genre of films, having made a list of similar-themed, critically acclaimed projects including The Broken News, Aranyak, Mission Over Mars, and The Test Case. He has also helped as an assistant director on some other hit projects like Dangal, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, 3 Idiots, Ghajini, and many others.
Chaar Yaar will release on Prime Video on October 23, 2026, in an eight-episode series.
