Wednesday was an encouraging day for the Boston Red Sox.

On the field, they crushed the Atlanta Braves 8-0, snapping their four-game losing streak with a much-needed win at Fenway Park.

After the game, interim manager Chad Tracy shared positive injury updates on a trio of Red Sox stars.

Per Tracy via Gabrielle Star of The Boston HeraldRoman Anthony took more swings on Wednesday. The team hopes he’ll advance to hitting off a tee on Thursday.

Anthony hasn’t played since May 4 due to a wrist injury. Until recently, Boston‘s depleted offense has struggled in his absence and could use his bat back in the lineup when he’s ready to return.

On top of missing their best hitter, the Red Sox are also missing their best pitcher in Garrett Crochet, who’s on the injured list with left shoulder inflammation and hasn’t pitched since April 25.

According to Tracy, Crochet will throw a multi-inning live batting practice session on Tuesday when Boston returns from its weekend road trip against the Cleveland Guardians.

Tracy also said that Garrett Whitlock, one of the team’s top relievers, received a painkilling injection on Wednesday. He’s day-to-day with a hyperextended left knee after slipping on a wet mound while warming up on May 24.

Based on Tracy’s updates, it sounds like all three players are trending in the right direction. That’s great news for the Red Sox, who need their stars back as soon as possible if they want to finally put their slow start behind them and climb into contention.
