Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc got behind the wheel of the new fully electric Ferrari Luce ahead of its unveiling.
Prior to the ceremonial removal of the silk red cover, the two Ferrari Formula 1 drivers took it in turns to take the Luce for a spin around the track.
“Whoa! No-no-no-no-no, please don’t do that! LH! LH-LH-LH… …LH. Careful! Careful! Careful! Careful! Careful, yeah? Wow! LH! Stop laughing!” Leclerc shouted as the seven-time champion pushed the car to its limits.
“I thought you were pushing like crazy,” Leclerc later added.
Fans were quick to react to the moment. One commented on Reddit, “Charles driving & Lewis in the passenger seat: Calm. Lewis driving & Charles in the passenger seat: PANIC STATION.”
“That ‘LH’ is taking me out,” wrote someone else, as another fan added: “These two are the best team-mates on the grid. Genuinely feel like they have a great relationship and have a lot of fun together.”
“Lewis’ giggle at the end fully sent me,” another commenter posted.
The Ferrari Luce is powered by a 122 kWh battery pack and four independent motors that deliver a combined 1035 horsepower. It can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in just 2.5 seconds, reach a top speed of 192 mph and has an estimated range of up to 330 miles.
“The design is very-very different to what we’ve seen from Ferrari in the past, but I think it’s very futuristic. It’s very Ferrari-like to look towards the future and to innovate,” Leclerc explained after uncovering the EV. “I love that it’s back to having more physical buttons so you can actually drive, look at the road, and you can feel.”
Hamilton added: “In terms of the attention to detail you can tell that it’s very Ferrari. The power delivery is amazing. You just feel centred the whole time even when you’re going through corners.”
