Charley Hull had a message for anyone offended by the prank she pulled on her caddie, Adam Woodward:
“Loosen up.”
The women’s golf star made waves when she told reporters before the start of the AIG Women’s British Open at Royal Lytham and St. Annes that she had bought fake lottery tickets and tricked Woodward into thinking he had won $100,000.

While sharing the moment was supposed to be lighthearted, some people didn’t take it that way and it created an uproar on social media. Hull was asked about the backlash on Thursday, something she said she wasn’t aware of and when asked if she would do it all again, she answered firmly.
“100 percent,” she said.
“He thought it was funny after. He’s not uptight, like, it’s a joke,” Hull added. “If people don’t like it, they can lump it, do you know what I mean? I felt bad for Adsy, but at the end day, I’ve just got to have a good week and at the end of the week, I’ll buy him 100 scratch cards. … Hopefully he can earn more money than that as well this week, if we play well.”
Hull finished the first day of the Open 2-under and tied for eighth on the leaderboard.
She trails the current leader, Atthaya “Jeeno” Thitikul, by five strokes.
The women’s golfer was not aware of the social media backlash since she told reporters about the prank earlier in the week, as she does not keep social media on her phone during tournaments.
“People that have complaints about it, I would say loosen up,” she said, according to The Guardian. “I don’t have my social media on my phone on tournament weeks. I delete it and when I go home I’ll add it again. I don’t really like people seeing me and tagging me and stuff. I like to keep in the present moment. But I think people need to lighten up if they’re taking that too seriously because it was pretty funny.”
