Global superstar Cher was reportedly left speechless after she was told over the phone that she has a secret granddaughter, aged just 15, following a brief romance her son Elijah had
Cher has reportedly learned that she has a 15-year-old granddaughter she never knew about. The singer and actress reportedly discovered about the existence of her granddaughter, whose father is said to be Cher’s son Elijah Allman, via an emotional phone call with the child’s mother.
Former model Kayti Edwards has claimed that her daughter, Ever, is also the daughter of Elijah, the son of Cher and her second husband Gregg Allman. Kayti, who lives in Joshua Tree, California, said she and Cher spoke over the phone last year and that the singer was left “speechless” by the shocking news that she had a teenage granddaughter.
Talking to The Sun on Sunday, Kayti said Cher got in touch with her to ask if it was true after rumours started to circulate through the family. Kayti explained: “I had to confess. She said she had heard something about it from Elijah back in 2021, but didn’t know if it was just crazy talk. When she heard the news, she was speechless.”

According to Kayti, Cher also said she was “finally a grandma”. The former model was friends with musician Elijah for years and the two were reportedly briefly romantically involved in 2010. She said they spent a night together, which resulted in pregnancy, but Elijah “knew from day one” that he did not want to be father. As such, he would “pop in every couple of years” but only to say hello.
Kayti added that Elijah told his wife Marieangela King about his daughter in 2021, after overdosing on drugs, and texted her to say he wanted to “make amends”. But she seemed disinterested in that, stating that her husband is Ever’s “true father”, as he had “raised her from day one”.
Elijah’s drug addiction has been highly publicised since it became known in 2023. It was first made public when Cher filed for an emergency conservatorship. In her filing, the I Got You Babe singer said her son was “substantially unable to manage his own financial resources due to mental health issues”.
In June 2025, Elijah was hospitalised after an overdose. Kayti said she saw him before the hospitalisation and “knew he wasn’t well”. She added that it was just after Elijah overdosed that Cher got in touch. She said Cher invited her and Ever to her home in Malibu and that the singer was “lovely and kind”, and showed Ever her closet, full of clothes she had worn during concerts. Kayti said Cher was “childlike” with Ever.
During the press tour for Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again in 2018, Cher, who played grandmother Ruby in the film, said she wanted to be a grandmother. The star explained: “I don’t have any grandchildren. I wish I did, I really do.”
Kayti told The Sun that Cher has continued to be in Ever’s life and sent her a Christmas card and a Chrome Hearts hoodie for Christmas, and then some money and Chrome Hearts sweats for her birthday.
Kayti also explained why she was talking about her daughter’s paternity now. She said would have “kept it under wraps” but had to speak as rumours had already circled. Speculation started after Elijah was arrested in February 2026 for assault whislt at an elite school. He reportedly told police that he was a “prospective father”.
Kayti is also the step-granddaughter of a global icon. Julie Andrews was married to her grandfather Blake Edwards from 1969 until his death in 2010. He shared his daughter Jennifer with his first wife Patricia. Jennifer, who was a child actress, had Kayti in 1976, when she was 19 years old.
