Cheryl is reportedly set for a music comeback after joining The Voice UK as a coach. The pop star, 43, found fame with Girls Aloud in the early 2000s and, after joining The X Factor as a judge, found huge success as a solo artist with tracks like Fight For This Love and Call My Name.
The star has three studio albums under her name, the last over which was released in 2014, and in the late 2010s had a brief comeback to the charts with Love Made Me Do It and Let You.
Cheryl, who joined her Girls Aloud bandmates for a reunion tour in 2024, recently began filming The Voice UK as a replacement for Sir Tom Jones, and now, it’s thought that her fellow panellist will.i.am is persuading her to get back into the studio, 15 years after they worked on her track 3 Words together.
A source said: “Will is taking advantage of Cheryl finally giving in to joining him on The Voice and has been urging her to work with him in the studio again.
“She was on the fence at first but Cheryl knows she’s running out of reasons not to. Cheryl knows she and Will work well together when it comes to making music. He’s a genius and she’s the perfect pop star. It’s a match made in heaven.”
Another new addition to The Voice UK panel is Aitch and it’s also been claimed that the former I’m A Celebrity.. star has engaged in “flirty banter” with Cheryl, but she simply sees him as a “cheeky little brother.
Speaking to The Sun, the source added: “She loves his energy and is flattered that he pays her compliments. Aitch is always respectful and would never over step the mark, but he’s slightly star-struck to be working with Cheryl – and who can blame him.”
Cheryl, who is mother to nine-year-old Bear with late One Direction star Liam Payne, has been relatively quiet in recent years but it’s thought that ITV bosses went to great lengths for the star when she arrived on set.
A source said: “Cheryl knows there is a lot riding on this and her comeback. She checked into her five-star suite on Thursday night before sitting down for glam yesterday morning.
When she left her room, she was flanked by ITV staff who kept her covered by giant umbrellas at all times. ITV were taking no chances, and all fans in the queue for the studio audience had their phones removed too.”
Also joining The Voice is Stacey Solomon, who initially found fame as a singer on The X Factor in 2009 but has mainly focused on presenting since. Alongside Alesha Dixon she will be taking over from host Emma Willis, who has moved onto Strictly Come Dancing, for the next series.
