Megastar Chiranjeevi may soon make his foray into the exhibition business. According to industry sources, the actor is planning to launch a premium multiplex theatre with Ram Charan in Gachibowli in Hyderabad being considered for the first property. While there has been no official confirmation, the move is said to be aimed at offering a world-class movie-going experience and competing with the city’s leading multiplex brands.
The development comes at a time when star-backed cinema chains are rapidly expanding across the Telugu states. The recently launched Allu Cinemas, backed by Allu Arjun and his dad Allu Aravind has received a strong response from audiences in Hyderabad’s IT corridor.
Industry insiders believe there is still room for more premium theatres in the city. “Hyderabad has evolved into a cosmopolitan market where audiences regularly watch films in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and English. There is enough demand for high-quality theatres,” says an exhibitor.
Asian Cinemas has been at the forefront of this trend, partnering with several Telugu stars. Its portfolio includes AMB Cinemas with Mahesh Babu, AAA Cinemas with Allu Arjun, and an upcoming theatre with Venkatesh at RTC Cross Roads.
“We have had a long association with the Allu family, and our partnership has been successful. Working with stars like Mahesh Babu, Allu Arjun and Venkatesh has been mutually rewarding. Their inputs help us enhance the ambience, sound quality and overall cinema experience,” says Suniel Narang of Asian Cinemas.
Meanwhile, Asian Cinemas and Allu Arjun are preparing to launch AAA Theatres in Visakhapatnam at Inorbit Mall with 8 screens to enthrall movie lovers. It is set for launch in August. .
If the reports prove true, Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan will become the latest Telugu film stars to venture into the rapidly growing premium exhibition business.
