Presley died last month at the age of 27 after suffering a cardiac arrest in a rehab facility. Cindy, husband Rande and their daughter Kaia issued an emotional tribute today following his death, where they spoke of their pride in him.
The model had been open about his struggles over the years. He had struggled with his mental health as well as substance and drug abuse over the years and had turned to many avenues to try and get help.
In a tribute on social media, Cindy shared a family statement which read: “We are beyond heartbroken to lose our beloved son and brother. We feel so blessed to have had Presley in our lives for 27 years.
“He is a sweet, beautiful soul who loved and is loved, now and forever. We are so proud of how he showed up in the world, with kindness and vulnerability. We are grateful for the outpouring of love and support from so many who know and love our family and even strangers who feel our pain. Til we meet again our sweet boy. We love you forever, Mom, Dad and Kaia.”
Paramedics had “responded to a report of a possible overdose, but upon arriving on the scene found him deceased”, reports at the time revealed. An official cause of death has not been announced, but his passing is being investigated as an overdose.
Before his death, Presley had posted about undergoing an Ibogaine treatment in Mexico. Ibogaine is a psychoactive indole alkaloid derived from the root bark of the Tabernanthe iboga shrub and is used experimentally for withdrawal symptoms and cravings for substances such as alcohol, opioids and cocaine.
Research has also been conducted on it over its potential to help those suffering from PTSD. At the time, Cindy shared: “You are a warrior! Walked thru the fire to find yourself! So proud!”
Rande also added in his own message: “I’m so proud of you and your courage. Facing what’s hard takes real strength and watching you find your way back to yourself is everything. I love you so much.”
