Supermodel Cindy Crawford has reportedly been left ‘inconsolable’ after her only son, Presley Gerber, tragically died on Sunday, aged just 27, at a rehab facility
Cindy Crawford has been left completely “devastated” after the death of her son, Presley Gerber. The 27-year-old died following a suspected overdose while at a luxury rehab facility over the weekend.
In recent years, Presley, who, like his mother, was a model, had been open about his mental health struggles, as well as battling substance abuse.
The late star was extremely close to both his parents, Cindy and Rande Gerber, as well as his actress sister, Kaia. Now, sources have claimed that Cindy has been left completely shattered by his loss. Sources claim that the united family bond, seen on the red carpet and on social media, was the real deal for the Crawford-Gerber family.
Speaking to Page Six, a source said: “They were so close. What you saw online and in the press wasn’t just for that purpose. They were a tight-knit family and [sister] Kaia and Presley were more than just siblings. Cindy has to be beyond gutted.”
Meanwhile, another source told the American publication: “Cindy is inconsolable. She’s absolutely devastated. This is every parent’s worst nightmare, and the family is still trying to process everything that happened.”
Santa Monica Police Department said that emergency services were called to a luxury rehabilitation facility where Presley had been staying on Sunday morning. He was sadly pronounced dead on the scene. In a statement, they said: “On September 20, 2026, at approximately 9:35 a.m., Santa Monica Police Department officers responded to a report of a possible overdose in the 1000 block of Berkeley Street. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male who was deceased.”
They went on to add: “‘SMPD detectives are investigating the death as a suspected overdose. At this time, there is no indication of foul play. The investigation remains ongoing.”
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner have not determined Presley’s official cause of death yet. However, the autopsy has been completed, allowing for Presley’s body to be released.
Following his death, a spokesperson for Cindy and her husband said: “The family is asking for privacy during this very difficult and painful time.” Earlier this year, Presley had disclosed that he was undergoing an Ibogaine treatment in Mexico.
Ibogaine is a psychoactive indole alkaloid derived from the root bark of the Tabernanthe iboga shrub and is used experimentally for withdrawal symptoms and cravings for substances such as alcohol, opioids and cocaine.
Research has also been carried out on its potential to help those who are suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. His family at the time were very vocal about their support, with Cindy saying: “You are a warrior! Walked thru the fire to find yourself! So proud.”
Presley’s dad added: “I’m so proud of you and your courage. Facing what’s hard takes real strength and watching you find your way back to yourself is everything. I love you so much.”
Just last month, Kaia also praised her brother for openly sharing his struggles. Speaking to Vogue, she said: “My parents for most of our lives were very, very private and didn’t share anything — and now we have this absolute teacher, my brother, who says, ‘I’m gonna be very human for everyone’. There’s only so much you can hide from the world.”
In 2024, Presley told his Instagram followers that he was battling a “very high opioid addiction,” and had “been on and off them for years now.” He added: “I’m letting everyone know so there’s some accountability in this situation.”
