NEW DELHI: The Centre has sanctioned deployment of personnel from the Central Industrial Security Force to secure the NATGRID campus in Bengaluru. A CISF spokesperson said on Sunday that the Union home ministry had approved 76 posts for the deployment.

The National Intelligence Grid (NATGRID), a critical national security infrastructure, integrates data from multiple intelligence and law enforcement databases to aid counter-terrorism operations. The NATGRID campus is located in Yelahanka in Bengaluru, while its headquarters in New Delhi is already under CISF protection against potential threats, including sabotage and terrorist attacks.

The CISF provides armed security cover to sensitive and critical installations across government and private sectors. In a related development, the CISF recently took over security of the Sushma Swaraj Bhawan in Chanakyapuri, deploying 90 personnel. The facility, under the Ministry of External Affairs, serves as a cultural centre and was earlier known as the Pravasi Bharatiya Kendra.
