For those unaware, Claude was one of the most iconic playoff figures. In fact, at one point, fans began cheering loudly for Claude, and he smiled and acknowledged the crowd. Meanwhile, the video clip featuring Claude from the ceremony has gone viral, and fans have expressed disbelief. One fan penned, “This was only three days ago. What happened to him? Rest in peace.” Another user commented, “Not even three days, it’s very possible he passed away last night, and the announcement was put out today.” One internet user even compared it to NASCAR driver, Kyle Busch’s sudden death and wrote:
“Very similar to Kyle Busch. Obviously, Kyle had underlying reasons, but he was at events on Tuesday, his body crashed on Wednesday, and gone on Thursday.”

The NHL Alumni Association has officially confirmed that Claude Lemieux passed away on May 28, 2026. The news has shocked the entire Hockey community. Initially, no official cause of his death was publicly revealed. However, later a TMZ Sports reported that law enforcement sources claimed Claude died by suicide. According to reports, his family was concerned after he failed to return home.

Later, his son reportedly found him at a family-owned business property in Lake Park, Florida. The authorities from the nearby Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office reportedly went to what was explained as a suicide attempt at the location. But Claude’s family has yet to speak on it.
