Analysis:

The biggest question surrounding the Browns heading into next season is who will be the starting quarterback? Though there’s four QBs on the roster, it’s expected to be a two-player race between Shedeur Sanders and Deshaun Watson.

Watson has been a disaster since signing a fully guaranteed $230 million contract years ago, but the team is stuck with him for at least one more year, so why not roll the dice and see what he can do?

On the other hand, Sanders showed promise during his rookie season. He did something neither Joe Flacco nor Dillon Gabriel could: get the Browns offense to show signs of life. If Cleveland is picking near the top of the draft, most expect the team to be taking a QB next year, so it would make sense for the Browns to want to see what Sanders can do over a full season before deciding whether or not he’s franchise QB material.

Whoever is under center will have a much better supporting cast than Sanders had last year. KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston add legitimacy to Cleveland’s passing game.

The offensive line also got a face lift in adding offensive tackle Tytus Howard, guard Zion Johnson, center Elgton Jenkins, plus first-round tackle Spencer Fano, third-round tackle Austin Barber, and fourth-round center Parker Brailsford.

Whether Sanders or Watson is under center for the majority of the season will determine how successful this Browns team is in 2026. They play in a tough division, so winning the AFC North is likely out of the question, but improving from five wins to seven or eight could be within the realm of possibility.
