BENGALURU: Chief Minister designate- D.K. Shivakumar, an ardent devotee of Sri Kadasiddeshwara Matha at Nonavinakere of Tiptur in Tumakuru district shares a strong bonding with this 12 century Matha for about two-decades to get his aspirations/ambitions fulfilled by divine forces.
Matha’s administrative officer Shambu sources told Deccan Chronicle on Monday Shivakumar is scheduled to visit the math soon after taking oath as Chief Minister on Wednesday at 4.05 pm and the swearing-in ceremony will take place at Lok Bhavan premises in Bengaluru.
Pontiff of Sri Kadasiddeshwara Matha Sri Kari Vrishabha Deshikendra Shivayogishwara Mahaswamij “Very happy over Shivakumar becoming the Chief Minister. Matha’s blessings will always be there on Shivakumar.” The pontiff exuded confidence in Shivakumar of delivering goods for the State and stated “Raja Pratyaksha Devata (Chief Minister a visible deity to the citizens)”.
Explaining the bond shared by Shivakumar with the math, Shambu said Shivakumar came as a devotee and later he turned to an ardent devotee. The Administrative Officer stated “Shivakumar attributed his success in his life to Sri Kadasiddeshwara Matha” and the AO recalled “Shivakumar prayed for the good health of his father Kempegowda and his ailing father recovered and that incident brought Shivakumar closer to the Matha.”
Shambu said “Shivakumar told Matha authorities that he has benefited immensely after he became a devotee of Matha.” Including D.K. Shivakumar, Shambu stated many political leaders such as late Chief Minister S.M. Krishna, former Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai among others have prayed at the Math.
A lesser known Math is now a popular religious destination in Tumakuru. Shambu attributed that devotees are drawn to the Math after youtubers/television channels projected the Math. The Math draws devotees from Karnataka, Maharashtra among other parts of the country while the annual chariot fest is held at Nonavinakere during Mahashivarathri falling in February/ March.
