HYDERABAD: Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) on Saturday cleared 32.35 km of footpaths and removed 697 encroachments across three zones as part of its ongoing drive against unauthorised structures.

The operation, taken up in compliance with High Court orders, focused on removing food stalls, street vendors, temporary sheds and other obstructions that had occupied pedestrian pathways. Officials said the drive was aimed at restoring safe and accessible footpaths for the public.

In the Serilingampally Zone, 18 km of footpaths were covered and 292 encroachments removed across five stretches, including Narsingi–Pipe Line Road, Patancheru–Radial Road‑30 in Tellapur, Ameenpur–Beeramguda Main Road, Miyapur–Chandanagar NH‑65 and Serilingampally–Botanical Garden Road.

In the Kukatpally Zone, 140 encroachments were cleared from three stretches covering 5.9 km. The stretches included Madhapur–HUDA Mayuri Road, Allwyn Colony–Pipe Line Road, Kukatpally–BSNL Lane and Moosapet–P.R. Nagar Road.

In the Quthbullapur Zone, 265 encroachments were removed from eight stretches covering 8.45 km. These included Chintal–Ranga Nagar Main Road, Jagathgirigutta Main Road, Jeedimetla–Suchitra X Road, Kompally–Quthbullapur X Road, Gajularamaram–Devender Nagar Road, Nizampet–Pragathi Nagar Road, Dundigal–ORR Service Road and Medchal–Medchal Main Road.

Officials said the drive was carried out simultaneously in all three zones with the support of enforcement teams, earth‑moving machinery and traffic police to ensure smooth operations. Encroachers were asked to vacate voluntarily, failing which structures were dismantled on the spot.

The CMC said the encroachment removal drive will continue in phases until all footpaths across the corporation limits are cleared, ensuring pedestrian safety and compliance with court directives.
