Hyderabad: With the monsoon season approaching, Cyberabad police and municipal authorities initiated ground-level inspections to prevent waterlogging and traffic disruptions across vulnerable stretches in the city.

Cyberabad commissioner Dr M. Ramesh, along with CMC commissioner Srujana, conducted a joint field inspection of flood-prone locations under the commissionerate on Wednesday. The visit focused on identifying areas vulnerable to water stagnation during heavy rains and ensuring preventive measures are implemented before the onset of intense rainfall.

Senior officials from engineering and civic departments accompanied the team to assess recurring problem points and find permanent solutions to minimise the inconvenience to commuters.

Among the key locations inspected was the stretch near Care Hospital at Biodiversity Junction, adjacent to Malkam Cheruvu, where heavy rain frequently leads to flooding on roads, resulting in severe traffic congestion. Officials also visited the Hyderabad Central University Road and the Harsha Toyota showroom junction in Kondapur, both identified as vulnerable spots for rainwater accumulation during monsoon spells.

During the inspection, officials stressed the need for coordinated efforts among municipal authorities, police and engineering departments to ensure uninterrupted traffic movement and public convenience during the rainy season. The identification of vulnerable locations and timely intervention would help prevent major traffic snarls and reduce inconvenience to the public.

Officials added that measures were being planned to ensure water does not stagnate on roads, particularly in high-traffic corridors of the IT hub.

Sherilingampally Zonal Commissioner Narayana Amit, Kukatpally DCP Rith Raj, ADCP Hanumantha Rao and other officials participated in the inspection.
