Loose Women star Coleen Nolan addressed the claims after her son Jake Roche made a guest appearance on the family podcast she hosts with her other son, Shane, and daughter, Ciara

Coleen Nolan has addressed claims that “she doesn’t like” one of her children after fans noticed she’s rarely seen with him. The Loose Women star has two sons, Shane Jr and Jake Roche, with her ex-husband Shane Richie, and a daughter, Ciara Fensome, with her second husband, Ray Fensome.

Last month, Jake joined Coleen, Shane and Ciara on their Uncensored podcast for the first time.

During the episode, the family put sibling stereotypes to the test, discussing everything from eldest child responsibility to middle child attention-seeking and the youngest sibling getting an easy ride.

Jake also revealed what he honestly thought about his mum, brother and sister launching a family podcast without him.

In the latest episode, the trio read out messages from listeners reacting to Jake’s appearance on the show.

Reading one message that caught her attention, Ciara said: “Jake makes the most sense,” which prompted Coleen to reply: “That’s fair.”

The 61-year-old then addressed comments she often receives about Jake, saying: “No to be fair, it was great having Jake on though wasn’t it because everyone’s always like, ‘Do you not like your other son?’, it was great having him on.”

Elsewhere in the episode, the family took a trip down memory lane as they reflected on the pressures of growing up, the mistakes they made as teenagers and what they would say to their younger selves.

While Shane and Ciara shared a few stories from their teenage years, they all agreed that Jake’s experience was very different after he found fame in Emmerdale and the band Rixton.

Coleen shared: “Jake, because he moved down South when he was like 14, I don’t know if he had much of a teenage experience, but his came much later when he got the fame and he went off the rails.”

In response, Shane recalled that period of Jake’s life, when he was around 21 years old. He added: “Because he went to that school and he was living with dad by himself.”

Shane went on to compare Jake’s rise to fame with their mum’s early career as a singer in The Nolans.

“I think he’s very much similar in terms of you where he didn’t have much of a team,” he shared.

Coleen added: “Well, also, where he lived, he didn’t have any mates. They all lived around London so there was never any of that, ‘Are we all meeting on a Friday?’ or whatever.”

Last year, Jake returned to the stage in a different way, starring in an autobiographical show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Speaking to The Mirror at the time, the singer opened up about the support he received from his mum throughout his career.

He said: “My mum is great, although every time she posts, last year we had a horde of Loose Women fans, which is really lovely, but as the show started going on, I could just sense these really confused Loose fans thinking ‘What the f**k is he doing?’

“I’m happy for anyone to turn up, there’s definitely been fans of my mum and dad and fans of Rixton, it’s quite confronting for an audience member, which is what I wanted the show to be. They’ve been amazing, as always.”
