Loose Women panellist Coleen Nolan left her children, Shane Richie Jr and Ciara Fensome, stunned with an unexpected outburst during a discussion about their teenage years
Coleen Nolan was met with an awkward silence on her podcast this week after claiming two of her three children are living off her fame. The Loose Women star is joined each week by her eldest son, Shane Richie Jr, and daughter, Ciara Fensome, on their Nolans Uncensored podcast.
In the latest episode, the trio took a trip down memory lane as they discussed the pressures of growing up, the mistakes they made as teenagers and what they would tell their younger selves if they had the chance.
After Shane admitted he often bunked off school during year 11, the conversation turned to whether exams were really that important. Coleen, 61, maintained that GCSEs are crucial, prompting Ciara to argue that the pressure to achieve good grades can be overwhelming, especially as success isn’t always determined by exam results.
The discussion then shifted to teenage antics, with Shane and Ciara sharing stories from their younger years. Coleen went on to reveal that, as the mother of a teenage son, she would often take Shane and his friends to a sexual health clinic for check-ups.
Sharing an important message with listeners, the Loose Women star then stressed: “Can I just say, safe sex is good and doing your GCSEs and revising is also really good!
“So ignore my children,” she added, before joking: “Because you’re right, they live off my f*****g fame and I pay for most of it!”.
As Coleen burst into laughter, her two children looked at her in shock before Shane replied: “Do you know what hurts the most, it’s f*****g true!”.
Coleen shares Shane and her second son, Jake Roche, with her ex-husband Shane Richie, while she has daughter Ciara with her second husband, Ray Fensome.
During a recent episode of the podcast, the Loose Women star appeared to make her feelings clear about her first husband.
While recording, Shane revealed he was heading off on a family holiday as soon as filming wrapped. Upon hearing his plans, Coleen said: “I’m really, really, jealous of you going on holiday today,” to which he replied: “Why?”.
“Because I’m not going,” she answered. However, after finding out more about the holiday plans, Coleen seemed considerably less enthusiastic.
Shane joked: “I’m going with dad, wanna come? ,” to which she promptly responded: “No!”.
“There we go then,” he replied. As well as being a mum-of-three, Coleen also embraces being a grandmother to four grandchildren.
Shane is a father of two, while Jake welcomed his first child with his partner in 2024. Ciara also became a first-time mum to a baby boy with her partner last year.
