While the New Orleans Saints were busy competing in their preseason game with the Jacksonville Jaguars, two of their former wide receivers were trying out for another AFC South team. The Jaguars’ division-rival Indianapolis Colts brought in three free agent wide receivers on Saturday afternoon, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, two of whom had Saints connections.
One of them was Equanimeous St. Brown, who signed with the Saints in 2024 and spent some time with their practice squad. He’s most notable for being the first player to wear the No. 13 jersey Michael Thomas made famous and for getting dunked on by Tyler Shough on his own podcast. The other was Tre’Quan Smith, their third-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft who caught a memorable record-breaking touchdown pass from Drew Brees as a rookie. The Colts also brought in former Los Angeles Rams draft pick Josh Reynolds for a tryout. We’ll see if Reynolds, Smith, or St. Brown end up catching passes in Indy soon.
