Stefon Diggs is home. On Wednesday, Diggs agreed to a one-year deal with the Washington Commanders for the 2026 season. After the two sides maintained contact for a while, it became increasingly clear that a deal would eventually be reached. Diggs will take the field for the first time with the Commanders on Friday morning.
On Thursday, the Commanders welcomed Diggs “home” at their Ashburn facilities. Diggs is a native of Montgomery County, Maryland, and is a University of Maryland alum. He’s made it known that he wanted to play for the Commanders.
Diggs was presumably in town to meet with coaches and sign his contract. It’s likely that he’ll meet with the media sometimes after Friday’s practice. Diggs told Josina Anderson on Wednesday that he was “blessed to have this opportunity,” and “humbled” to be back where it all began.

Diggs gives quarterback Jayden Daniels another reliable target, while also becoming the best No. 2 wide receiver that Terry McLaurin has played with since entering the NFL in 2019. He will immediately move into the starting lineup opposite McLaurin, giving new offensive coordinator David Blough another experienced weapon to work with.
Washington opens the preseason next week when the Miami Dolphins come to Northwest Stadium. There will be a joint practice before the game.
