Panathinaikos, one of the fastest-growing clubs, confirmed two important signings within a few hours.

The runner-up of the 2026 Greek League announced that two national team players, Dimitrios Nikolaidis and Efstathios Kalogeropoulos, had joined the “Green-Whites.”

Dimitrios Nikolaidis, a 27-year-old center forward, joined Panathinaikos from Olympiacos. He has played for PAOK, Brescia, Spandau 04, and Olympiacos on two occasions. He won the Champions League in 2018, as well as five national championships, four Greek Cups, and one Super Cup while playing for Olympiacos. Additionally, he has been a champion in Italy and Germany with Brescia and Spandau , respectively.

After a very successful career with the Greek youth and junior national teams, Nikolaidis became one of the key players of the senior national team. Representing Greece, he has won three medals at the World Championships (one silver, two bronze) and placed 3rd at the 2026 European Championships.

Efstathios Kalogeropoulos (25) began his career at Vouliagmeni, where he was a captain for some time. Last summer he moved from Vouliagmeni to Marseille. He now returns to Greece after an excellent season at Marseille, crowned with the Euro Cup trophy.

Playing for the senior national team, Kalogeropoulos has won two bronze medals at major competitions –  at the 2025 World Championships and at this year’s European Championships.

Panathinaikos prolonged the contracts wth most of the players from the 2026 roster, including Dimitrios Skoumpakis, who was the team’s most significant reinforcement last summer.

Dusan Banicevic left the club and he will play for Primorac Kotor from the next season.
