Nalgonda: Roads and buildings minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Thursday said the Congress was committed to the welfare of Muslim minorities. He was speaking after offering greetings to the community at an Idgah on Munugode Road in Nalgonda on the occasion of Bakrid.
The minister said the festival, observed in remembrance of the sacrifice and faith of Prophet Ibrahim, conveyed a message of unity and tolerance.
He said the Congress had consistently worked for the welfare of Muslims and recalled that the government led by Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy had introduced a four per cent quota for Muslims in education and employment. He assured continued support for the development of the community.
District collector B. Chandrasekhar and superintendent of police Sharath Chandra Pawar were present.
