Adilabad: Congress leaders and workers staged intense protests outside district collectorates on Monday, demanding the immediate resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The demonstrators alleged widespread irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise and accused the poll panel of ‘vote theft’ across Adilabad, Nirmal, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, and Mancherial districts. Several District Congress Committee (DCC) presidents and sitting party MLAs actively led the demonstrations.
Congress leaders and cadres took out a rally in the respective district headquarters from their party offices to the collectorates.
The Congress leaders alleged that the BJP at the centre is indulging in vote theft with the help of the Election Commission, and it is everybody’s right to have a vote in a democracy.
The Congress leaders raised slogans such as ‘Vote Chor Gaddi Chod’ and ‘Resign, Gyanesh Kumar from the post’.
Adilabad DCC president Naresh Jadhav, Adilabad Market Committee chairman Srikanth Reddy, former Adilabad MP Soyam Bapurao, senior congress leaders Kandi Srinivas Reddy, Ade Gajender, Gandrath Sujatha, Sanjeev Reddy, and Addi Bhoja Reddy took part in the protest in Adilabad.
Khanapur MLA and DCC president Vedma Bojju, former Minister A. Indrakaran Reddy, former MLA Vittal Reddy and former DCC Srihari Rao participated in the protest in Nirmal.
MLC Dande Vittal, Asifabad Market Committee chairman Irukulla Manga, DCC president Atram Suguna, former MLA Atram Sakku, and senior Congress leaders participated in the protest in Asifabad.
In Mancherial, DCC president Raghunath Reddy, Mancherial Corporation Congress party president Thumula Naresh, Mancherial Market Committee chairman Ramagiri Banesh and corporators participated.
