Hyderabad: The ruling Congress party in Telangana on Tuesday strongly condemned remarks made by BRS leader and former MLA Balka Suman, accusing him of provoking violence and attempting to destabilize the state government.

The controversy erupted after Suman allegedly expressed frustration over poor public participation in BRS protests and said the party should launch “militant activities” instead of waiting for people to join agitations.

In a sharp statement, Congress accused the BRS of moving away from democratic politics and questioned why party chief K. Chandrashekar Rao, K. T. Rama Rao, and T. Harish Rao had not condemned the remarks.

The ruling party said the silence of the BRS leadership suggested “tacit approval” of Suman’s comments and asked whether the opposition party had abandoned constitutional politics in its attempt to regain power.

Congress also urged police and law enforcement agencies to take the remarks seriously, warning that democracy and public order cannot be threatened through calls for violence or manufactured unrest.
