Hyderabad: Displaying extraordinary presence of mind, a police constable of Tappachabutra police station saved the life of a Telangana State Power Distribution Company Limited (TGSPDCL) contract worker who suffered a severe electric shock while performing field duties on Thursday.
Forty-four-year-old Raju Naik, an assistant line man of Karwan electricity office, was executing line repairs on an electrical pole near the Kummarwadi Hanuman Temple in Karwan. During the process, he accidentally came into contact with a live high-tension wire, sustained a massive electric shock, and fell to the ground from the pole, losing consciousness instantly as his pulse dropped.
B. Suresh, a constable of Tappachabutra police station, was performing patrolling nearby near noticed the commotion and rushed to the spot without a moment’s delay. Observing that the worker was unresponsive and not breathing, Suresh immediately initiated Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
He administered continuous chest compressions systematically, which successfully revived the victim’s pulse and restored temporary breathing on-site. Following the successful administration of emergency first aid, Suresh, with the assistance of locals, shifted the injured worker to the hospital in an emergency vehicle for advanced medical management.
The worker is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital. Doctor said Naik’s condition is stable and added that the immediate administration of CPR within the golden hour was instrumental in preventing a fatal outcome and saving his life.
Tappachabutra Inspector G. Balakrishna commended the exemplary bravery, swift responsiveness, and community-policing spirit displayed by Suresh (4938) in saving a human life during an active emergency.
