Ahead of their big day, Michael packed on the PDA with his bride-to-be – before enjoying a sunny pint in the pub. Keeping it casual in shorts and tracksuit bottoms, the couple embraced in one of their last meetings before their nuptials.
Soap star, Michael, has been a staple of our screens since joining the ITV soap in 1983, and is currently the second longest serving actor behind Ken Barlow actor Bill Roache. However, despite becoming a firm favourite on the cobbles, he admitted that he refuses to take his role for granted as things could change very quickly.
Speaking to the Mirror, he said: “You can never take the job for granted. My contract was due in January and I’ve just been offered a new one, so I can breathe a sigh of relief for another year.”
He added: “But you can never look beyond that. They might say ‘you know what, we can’t write for you, we don’t know what to write for you anymore. Thank you and goodbye.’ That’s the nature of the beast.
“I’ll be in the show in my 70s, 80s and 90s, if they still want me. I’ve never been tempted to leave.”
