Coronation Street star Beverley Callard has told fans she is feeling “in limbo” as she waits for her stomach biopsy results, while also sharing the heartbreaking news about her rescue dog

Former Coronation Street star Beverley Callard has told fans she is feeling “in limbo” as she waits for answers about her health, while also sharing disappointing news about a rescue dog she had hoped to bring home.

The actress, 69, who played Liz McDonald in the ITV soap, has been keeping followers updated on her breast cancer journey since revealing her diagnosis in February.

In a new Instagram video, Beverley explained that tests had uncovered erosion and chronic inflammation in her stomach, but she was still waiting for the results of biopsies.

“I went to the hospital yesterday… still not got the results of the biopsies from my stomach, but apparently there’s a lot of erosion in my stomach and chronic inflammation,” she said.

The I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! star explained that her consultant had planned to prescribe three medications to help treat the problem.

“So the consultant said I was going to be given three medications, two antibiotics and one that sort of protects the stomach,” she said.

However, Beverley was left frustrated when she went to collect the medication and was told the pharmacist needed to speak to her oncologist first.

The actress said she felt she was back in ‘limbo’ as she waited for further information, adding that she hoped to find out more the following day.

Alongside the uncertainty surrounding her health, Beverley also revealed that she and her family had been dealt a blow after falling in love with a rescue dog named Elvis.

Earlier this week, the actress visited Dublin Dog Hub and was hoping to adopt the pup. She had already started preparing for his arrival, buying a new bed and bowls for him.

But the family were left heartbroken when they were told they could not take him home because of concerns about his behaviour around other dogs and people.

“And then we had some awful news. We can’t have Elvis. We are gutted,” Beverley told her followers.

She explained that Elvis was due to be neutered and microchipped, but the rescue centre had informed her that he had bitten another dog and a handler.

Beverley said the decision had been made with the safety of her existing dogs, Arthur and Elsie, as well as the family, in mind.

“So we are so disappointed, really disappointed. But something will happen,” she said.

Trying to remain hopeful, the actress added: “It’s got to be fate. So there we go. That’s the news. And none of it’s good. I’m really sorry about that.”
