Coronation Street star Tracy Shaw has undergone surgery amid her breast cancer battle and updated fans on her social media after having her tumours removed
Tracy Shaw has shared an update with fans after she underwent surgery amid her cancer battle.
The actress, 52, who played Maxine Peacock on Coronation Street from 1995 until 2003, announced earlier this year that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. She has been sharing her journey online with fans.
Whilst Tracy has been having a really tough time recently, she had some good news for fans this weekend after undergoing surgery. She revealed her tumours had been removed and said she was “feeling great”.
Taking to social media, she shared a positive update with fans, writing: “Good morning everyone. It’s done!!! The tumours are out, they’re gone! They’re gone! They’re gone, they’re gone, they’re gone! I’m feeling great, it all went well.
“I’m just popping on to say thank you. Thank you so much for all your messages and all your love. Greatly received and really helped me through it all. Everything went really well and I’m going to fill you in on all the descriptions.”
She added: “Obviously, you know, it’s looking a bit gory down there but I can’t wait to tell you what they did. I just want to take a moment to thank every single person that worked in the hospital yesterday, every single person.
“The surgeons were amazing, I ended up having three surgeons and all the nurses, all the staff, everybody. And I had the best cup of tea and slice of toast when I came around out of theatre.”
It comes after Tracy was dealt a cruel blow, having missed her appointment due to parking issues at her local hospital
“So, my update is I’m sat in the car park and I missed the appointment. I rang them and they said because it was the first appointment, they’re not sure if the doctor can see me now,” she said.
“I arrived really early and I’ve been driving around the car park now for 45 minutes. The advice I was given was, ‘Could you go out and park on the road?’ and I said, ‘The likelihood of me finding a space is so slim.'”
She added: “Everyone who knows, or comes to Royal Berkshire Hospital, knows there’s a real problem for finding a space. The anxiety it’s brought up is horrendous and the one appointment I’m looking forward to having, I couldn’t make. I haven’t got anyone to drop me off. Luca’s gone back to Uni now. This happens all the time… I was late 45 minutes for chemo, once. Car parks, hey?”
