Coronation Street legend and I’m A Celeb All Stars contestant Beverley Callard has revealed she has had to return to hospital as she continues to deal with her cancer diagnosis
Coronation Street icon Beverley Callard has candidly opened up about her life-threatening health scare. The legendary soap actress, 69, revealed she is having more tests in hospital as she continues to deal with her cancer diagnosis.
She revealed her diagnosis in January and regularly updates her followers. Fans watched her take part in I’m A Celebrity, but the show was filmed before she discovered the health issue.
But now she has shared her latest Instagram update, revealing she has had a tough time of late. Speaking on the social media platform, Beverley said: “Well, I’ve got sort of good news, well definitely good news, but maybe bad news, but I’m not sure yet.
“The good news is my new script arrived yesterday in preparation for me going back to work at the end of next week. So I’m excited, I can’t wait to go back to work, and the scripts are fantastic.”
She went on: “But the negative side is I’ve had quite a lot of pain in my right leg. I had to go to the GP today and it’s a suspected blood clot which can happen if you’ve got cancer and if you’ve had surgery.”
Explaining her thoughts at the news, Beverley continued: “Now it might not be, but you know you think, ‘Oh no, please, no, no, no, no, no, no.’
“So I’ve got to be at a hospital in the morning at 8am to have tests and all sorts of things done about that. And then I see the radiotherapist at 1.15.
“So that’s today’s news, but I’m feeling fine, I’m feeling quite positive. So I thank you so much for all your wonderful messages and I’m listening to everybody and trying to take everything in.”
Beverley recently admitted she has “completely crashed” emotionally as she continues to deal with the disease. Speaking on Saturday , Beverley, who underwent her first bout of surgery in February, explained: “I’ve made an appointment for Botox, I know people don’t agree with it but I wanted to do it for me.
“I go back to work soon too so I don’t want to look like the walking dead, which, sometimes I do at the moment. This morning, I showered, exfoliated, did all the girl things, fake tan, and caught sight of my whole body in the mirror, which I don’t look at very often. I completely crashed emotionally and just thought…’Oh my God, I look like a freak.’
“Please don’t think I’m self-indulgent. I’m not, I know loads of people are far worse off than me.
“I’ve got loads of support in Jon and my family and friends but I crashed emotionally and I just thought ‘I can’t do this anymore.’ I got myself together but I didn’t feel brilliant.”
