20-Year Jail For Karnataka Man In 2021 POCSO Rape Case
Hyderabad: The Fast Track Special Judge for Rape and POCSO Act Cases in Rangareddy district on Thursday sentenced Metri Ravi of Karnataka to 20 years’ rigorous imprisonment for raping a minor girl.
The court also imposed a fine of ₹16,000 and ordered ₹1 lakh compensation to the victim. Ravi was arrested by LB Nagar police in 2021 in connection with the case. A case was registered as Crime No. 1387 under the IPC and POCSO Act, and a chargesheet was filed against him. The court delivered the verdict after hearing the matter on a fast-track basis.
Medipally: Woman Alleges Blackmail By Man, Case Registered
Hyderabad: A woman on Thursday lodged a complaint with Medipally police alleging that a man named Vishnu Murthy blackmailed her using her private photos and videos. According to the complaint, Murthy had lured her into a relationship on the pretext of love and later began threatening her. He allegedly warned that he would share the videos with her husband and family, and demanded ₹10 lakh in cash and 30 tolas of gold to keep silent. Based on the complaint, the Medipally police have registered a case and taken up the investigation.
3 Workers Injured In Soil Collapse At Gachibowli Site
Three workers had a narrow escape with minor injuries after an earthen mound collapsed while they were working at a construction site in TNGO Colony, Gachibowli, on Thursday. Gachibowli Station House Officer K. Saidulu said police reached the spot after receiving information about the incident.
“Neighbours informed us that the workers were digging pits for pillars in the basement area for the construction of an apartment,” he said. According to police, locals rescued the workers and shifted them to a hospital, where they were treated as outpatients. The SHO added that no complaint had been received from the site owner or the injured workers so far.
Madhapur Police Arrest Woman For Gold Theft In Neighbour’s House
Hyderabad: Madhapur police on Thursday arrested an accused and recovered 100 grams of gold stolen from a house in Ayyappa Society five days ago.
According to police, the theft took place at the residence of Vadla Tara. Tara said she had gone to a hospital in Sangareddy to attend to her pregnant daughter-in-law when the incident occurred.
Police said her neighbour, Vinaya Banu, allegedly diverted Tara’s attention and stole the gold from her house. When Tara returned and found the jewellery missing, she lodged a complaint on July 24. Based on the complaint, police registered a case and launched an investigation. After analyzing CCTV footage and other technical evidence, police arrested Vinaya Banu and recovered the stolen gold.
