Cristiano Ronaldo’s fiancée, Georgina Rodriguez, has given a glimpse of how she and their children are watching Portugal take on Spain in the World Cup tonight

Cristiano Ronaldo’s children are proudly watching him take on Spain – from the comfort of home. As the Portuguese star battles in his final World Cup tournament, his children are happily cheering him on.

Taking to Instagram, the athlete’s fiancée Georgina Rodriguez revealed that their children were watching the match at home on a large television screen. Their two children appeared overjoyed ahead of the crunch game – one sat on a large Louis Vuitton trunk, while a younger child waved their hands in the air, seeing his face on TV.

But while the children are watching from the comfort of their home, rather than at the AT&T Stadium, also known as Dallas Stadium, they have been on hand in person to cheer him on.

Last week, the family flocked to Miami for the match, with Georgina sharing glimpses of them coming together ahead of Portugal’s clash with Colombia, which ended in a draw.

Cristiano had been facing pressure in recent weeks to score at the World Cup, but ultimately scored two goals against Uzbekistan last month. Georgina was on hand to watch the record-breaking moment – albeit from the comfort of her couch. And she opted to wear the Portuguese national shirt with her man’s number on, and very little else.

Taking to Instagram, she could be seen cheering the athlete on from home, proudly standing beside her huge TV, while he appeared on screen.

In the snap, she flashed peace signs in her husband-to-be’s kit, accessorised with a backwards cap and under-eye patches. She showed off her toned physique with the outfit, as it looked like she had either no trousers on or very tiny shorts. Georgina simply captioned the upload: “Match day.” And what a match day it was for her man, who scored twice before half-time as Portugal eased to an emphatic 5-0 win.

The 41-year-old had also been at the centre of speculation as to whether he would be back on the pitch in 2030 for the next World Cup.

However, this weekend, he ruled out appearing again and confirmed that this will be his final outing for Portugal. Speaking at a press conference ahead of Portugal’s round of 16 matches against Spain, he said: “I want to enjoy it as much as possible, because it will be my last World Cup, yes. But I hope that tomorrow won’t be my last game in the World Cup.”

It marks a sombre moment for football fans, who have witnessed the athlete representing his country since his first appearance in 2003. Since that debut, he has accumulated 146 goals in 232 outings for Portugal – making him the most prolific goalscorer in international football history.

Despite facing criticism from certain quarters following a sluggish opening to the competition, Cristiano broke a long-held record last month when he became the first player to find the net in six separate World Cup tournaments. The legendary striker netted twice against Uzbekistan as Portugal cruised to a 5-0 victory in their Group K fixture.

He also reached the 10-goal milestone in World Cup matches, surpassing the late Eusebio’s national record of nine, set in 1966. At 41 years and 138 days old, he also claimed second place amongst the oldest players ever to score in the competition – beaten only by Cameroon’s Roger Milla, who was 42 years and 39 days old when he netted his last World Cup goal.
