Hyderabad: As part of the 99 days action plan, the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation is undertaking nala encroachment removal and desilting works across various locations to improve stormwater flow, prevent flooding, and strengthen urban infrastructure.

The drive would mainly focus on identifying and removing encroachments obstructing the flow of water in the nala, undertaking desilting operations to remove accumulated silt, sludge, and waste, restoring the carrying capacity of nalas for efficient drainage and strengthening nala banks and improving long-term sustainability apart from ensuring regular monitoring and maintenance of restored stretches.

The encroachments and silt accumulation in nalas often restrict the natural flow of stormwater, leading to water stagnation and flooding during heavy rains. Through systematic removal of encroachments and comprehensive desilting operations, the corporation is restoring the functionality of key drainage channels and improving urban resilience.

The initiative contributes to better drainage management, reduced flood risks, improved public health, cleaner surroundings, and enhanced environmental conditions. These efforts form an important part of creating a safer, healthier, and more livable Cyberabad for all citizens, according to officials.
