Hyderabad: Cyberabad police and Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC) hosted one of its kind Mobility Datajam, a unique and scientific approach to ongoing Traffic Issues.
The event saw the participation of about 100 participants representing a cross-section of society with techies, urban planners and students to collectively find solutions for mobility challenges.
Cyberabad Police Commissioner Dr M Ramesh inaugurated the data jam. The initiative was aimed at ensuring Cyberabad and the city all kinds of solutions – from safe access to schools, improving road safety, enhancing liveability of the city through innovative solution and convergence”.
Participants selected problem statements pertaining to congestion, ward level mobility indicators, public transport access, data visualization using a comprehensive set of data provided by government and non-government organizations with an objective to find innovative and creative solutions to address the mobility challenges in the city.
Teams with diverse skillsets came together to discuss, deliberate, brainstorm and create prototypes for potential solutions and presented their ideas to a packed auditorium.
A few solutions presented by the bright minds post the datajam were amazingly great ideas and provided detailed mobility insights, how different data sets can help various government agencies to restructure the public and citizen offerings, be very precise and innovative on solution designs apart from conducting predictive analysis on various segments.
The ward level insights, segmenting the city in various hexagons and mapping essential services establishment with mobility options and keeping in view safety aspect gained lot of appreciation.
The Police Commissioner said that when citizens give their time and skills to solve public issues like mobility, the city will benefit immensely from the collective thinking and solutioning based on real world data.
“We look forward to taking these ideas forward towards implementation with a view to benefit the commuters of Cyberabad. We are happy to see enthusiastic participation from all government departments by providing datasets as well as their physical presence that inspires citizens to work together in a positive manner,” he said.
Cyberabad Joint Commissioner of Police, Traffic, Sunpreet Singh highlighted the need for reducing the number of personal vehicles and shifting commuters to shared modes of transport by creating a reliable system that caters to the needs of daily commuters.
