Storage Wars star Darrell Sheets has died at the age of 67. The reality TV star was a favourite on the show and had earned the nickname “The Gambler” for his risky purchases.
Officers responded to a report of a deceased person at his home in the early hours of Wednesday. Sadly, Sheets was pronounced dead at the scene.
In a release, the Lake Havasu Police Department in Arizona said: “On April 22, 2026, at approximately 0200 hours, officers with the Lake Havasu City Police Department were dispatched to a residence in the 1500 block of Chandler Drive in reference to a reported deceased individual.
“Upon arrival, officers located a male subject who suffered from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The male was pronounced deceased on scene and the Lake Havasu City Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit was notified and responded to the scene to assume the investigation.”
It went on: “The body was ultimately turned over to the Mohave County Medical Examiner’s office for further investigation. The male subject has been identified as Darrell Sheets, a 67-year-old resident of Lake Havasu City and Darrell’s family has been notified.
“This incident remains under active investigation, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.”
Sheets appeared on Storage Wars between 2010 and 2021. He featured on 163 episodes of the show in total.
The A&E series followed several professional buyers who would bid against each other on abandoned storage units. They would hope to hit the jackpot with a hugely valuable item in their mystery purchase.
A spokesperson for A&E told TMZ: “We are saddened by the passing of a beloved member of our Storage Wars family, Darrell ‘The Gambler’ Sheets. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time.”
Fans of the star and the show also took to social media to share messages of condolence. One user wrote on Twitter/X: “Sad to hear about Darrell Sheets. He brought a big personality to Storage Wars and will be remembered by many fans. RIP.”
Another said: “Sad! Prayers to Brandon and the rest of his family! Storage wars Darrell Sheets… RIP!!”
And a third added: “Another piece of many people’s childhood is gone “The Gambler” Darrell Sheets from Storage Wars has died.”
Following success on the show, Sheets had retired to the area and had been operating an antique shop called Havasu Show Me Your Junk.
Elsewhere, Sheets had appeared The Tonight Show With Jay Leno and on Rachael Ray’s cooking show.
In 2019, he suffered a heart attack in 2019. He had surgery following the health worry.
