Istanbul: Salim Dola, a close associate of underworld figure Dawood Ibrahim, has been brought to India after being deported from Istanbul. He arrived at the Delhi Technical Airport following a coordinated operation involving Indian intelligence agencies and international partners.

Dola is currently being interrogated by intelligence officials and is expected to be handed over to Mumbai Police for further questioning. Authorities believe he played a key role in Dawood Ibrahim’s alleged drug trafficking network.

According to CNN Türk, Dola was arrested on April 25 by Turkish authorities after a targeted raid by the Narcotics Crimes Division of the Istanbul Police Department. He had been hiding in a residence in the Beylikdüzü district.

Officials tracked his location through extensive technical and physical surveillance before carrying out the operation. He was later processed for deportation to India.

The arrest is linked to ongoing investigations in India, where suspects detained in Mumbai’s Kurla area reportedly confessed to receiving instructions from Dola. During related raids, authorities seized over 126 kg of mephedrone and ₹25.22 lakh in cash.

Dola was wanted under an Interpol Red Notice and faces multiple charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985. The law carries strict penalties, including a minimum 10-year prison sentence for serious drug offences and stringent bail conditions.

Officials are expected to formally charge him under the NDPS Act and other relevant laws as the investigation progresses.
