Dec reveals he hit Ant’s daughter’s boyfriend with golf ball

Declan Donnelly was left mortified after he accidentally hit Ant McPartlin’s stepdaughter’s boyfriend on the back of his head with a golf ball.

The TV star, 50, who has been part of the famous television duo for decades revealed the incident on their podcast, Hanging Out With Ant & Dec.

Ant has two stepdaughters with his wife Ann-Marie Corbett, Daisy, 18 and Poppy, 16 and refers to them as his own children, despite having a biological child with his former personal assistant back in 2024.

The Britain’s Got Talent host admitted: “I was 75 to 80 yards from the green. I thought this is a sand iron shot. I thought I’ll just open the club face a little bit and just get under it and just land it gently on the green.

“I open the club face a little bit which would force it right. It happened to be where two of my playing partners were stood.

“As I hit the ball, it went up in the air and headed in their general direction. I shouted “fore right”, which means you should duck.

“One of them delayed his duck a little bit. He finally ducked and honest to God, you heard as it hit him on the back of the head.”

Unwilling to gloss over the accident, Ant, also 50, said that he found out about the accident when he got home and feared his daughter’s boyfriend was in a lot of pain.

Ant chimed in saying: “I heard about this when he got in last night with rubbing the back of his head in a lot of pain. Bless him. In a lot of pain. He said, “It’s all right. You hit the soft bit”.’

Admitting fault, Dec the said:” It didn’t make the noise of the soft bit. It didn’t. I felt and still feel so bad. I’ve never done that before.” Taking things a step further, Ant then joked that he felt he should check if his daughter’s boyfriend was even alive after the brutal accident. He added: “Should I go and check just to make sure, just “Are you alive? Hello. Are you alive? Are you alive?”

Ant was nowhere to be seen on the day but he saw it as a blessing in disguise as he wondered if he would have been the recipient of the attack if he had been playing. He went on to say: “Well, I’m pleased I didn’t play because if I played, I would have been your partner and that would have been me. It’s true though.”

This comes after the I’m A Celeb star revealed that he would love to have more children with his wife Ann-Marie, who he married following his split with Lisa Armstrong in 2018. The presenter currently has a son with Ann-Marie named Wilder.

In a previous interview, when asked if he would like more children, the star said: “Yeah definitely, I’d have loads more kids. I mean I’m too tired, but I would have more kids. I’ve got really good, fun older ones. And a two-year-old who’s, he’s funny.”

The couple swapped their £6million London home in Wimbledon for a £10 million home in Surrey where they currently raise their three children. Ant credits Ann-Marie as his “rock and lifesaver” after he spiralled out of control due to alcohol and drug dependency which led to him crashing his car and spending time in rehab,

Speaking about his time in recovery following his stint after rehab, he revealed: “I got out of hospital and I rented houses in the country and locked myself away and walked the dog. No TV or social media. I did nothing.

“I barely watched the World Cup. I worked on myself and got well. For 16 years I’ve spent my birthday in Australia so I thought I’d spend it with Anne-Marie. It was gorgeous.”
