The 2026 Cannes Film Festival, running from Tuesday, May 12 to Saturday, May 23, has already delivered a series of unforgettable fashion moments. Among the most anticipated debuts of this prestigious event on the French Riviera is that of Indian actor Alia Bhatt, who made her first appearance in a breathtaking ensemble that paid homage to the very landscape of the Côte d’Azur.
For her inaugural walk at the festival—set against a beachside deck overlooking the sea—Bhatt chose a structured corset-style ball gown in a dreamy palette of soft pastel shades. The flowing creation blended hues of blue, green, and blush pink, evoking the colors of the Riviera at twilight. The ensemble featured delicate spaghetti straps, a fitted sculpted bodice, and a voluminous skirt that trailed elegantly behind her as she moved along the waterfront.
The gown itself was a work of art, described as a “full circle hand-painted homage to the Riviera.” The intricate brushstrokes were the work of Basuri, while the architectural silhouette was sculpted and formed to Bhatt’s body by That Antique Piece. To complete the red carpet look, the actor opted for understated elegance: minimal accessories were chosen to let the gown shine, with the exception of striking yellow diamonds by Chopard and a pair of elegant mules by Manolo Blahnik.
Keeping the styling refined and focused, Bhatt wore her hair in an elegant updo crafted by hairstylist Stephane Lancien, while her makeup was executed by artist Puneet B Saini. The nails were handled by Studio Nails Mumbai. The entire look was styled by the duo Rhea Kapoor and Sanya Kapoor.
