DeForest Buckner didn’t spare himself while assessing the Indianapolis Colts’ latest missed opportunity.
The Colts defensive tackle shared a direct message after Sunday night’s 33-30 overtime loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, placing responsibility across the locker room.
“It’s definitely frustrating because every single one of us could’ve played better,” Buckner said, via WISH-TV. “And try to find that extra play to finish the game.
“Granted, everybody had us counted out in this game. We know the type of team that we are, and the guys that we have on the team, and what we can do.”
Buckner supplied one of those difference-making plays before halftime. He batted down a Patrick Mahomes pass and then sacked the Chiefs quarterback on third-and-2, forcing a punt that helped Indianapolis carry a 20-17 lead into the break.

He finished with five tackles, one sack and one pass defensed. The Colts still surrendered 523 total yards, their second consecutive game allowing more than 500.
Indianapolis forced overtime with Jonathan Taylor‘s fourth-quarter touchdown and Spencer Shrader‘s tying field goal in the extra period. Harrison Butker answered with the winning 40-yard kick as time expired.
The 0-2 Colts return home for an AFC South matchup with the Houston Texans on Sept. 27.
