KARIMNAGAR: A 21-year-old degree student, Gaddam Madhu, died of electrocution at a Ganesh pandal at Bathikepally in Pegadapalli mandal of Jagtial district on Monday night.
According to police, Madhu came into contact with a live electric wire while a Deeparadhana programme was being held at the pandal and fell down.
His friends shifted him to the Jagtial district headquarters hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. Madhu was pursuing his final year of degree studies in Karimnagar.
Police visited the spot after being informed about the incident, registered a case and launched an investigation.
Two Drug Peddlers Held Near Malkajgiri Rly Station; 23 gm MDMA Seized
Hyderabad: Malkajgiri police along with the Special Operations Team (SOT) arrested two persons for peddling MDMA and seized 23 grams of the drug. Malkajgiri DCP Ch. Sridhar identified the accused as Mahaveer Singh, 28, driver with a ride app, and Lakshman Singh Rajpurohit, 45, a catering worker. Police were on the look-out for supplier Kuldeep of Jodhpur. Acting on a tip-off, police apprehended the duo near Malkajgiri railway station on Monday afternoon.
Timely aid by traffic cops earns felicitation
The Malkajgiri commissionerate felicitated two traffic police personnel, constable S. Vijay Kumar of Trimulgherry and constable G. Kiran Kumar of Begumpet, for providing timely first aid to accident victims and an injured Home Guard during recent emergencies.
Vijaya Kumar had administered first aid to two bike riders who were injured in a hit-and-run accident near the Alwal bus stop on the Lothkunta Road. At Rasoolpura Junction, Home Guard K. Veera Shekar suffered a bleeding injury to his left leg while closing barricades to prevent traffic towards Minister Road when a car hit him and fled. Kiran Kumar gave first aid and helped shift him to Gandhi Hospital.
Trimulgherry traffic ACP G. Shankar Raju, who felicitated the personnel, said first-aid kits issued to traffic personnel were helping provide immediate assistance before victims could be shifted to hospitals. Inspector V. Sardar Naik and SI N.S.K. Raju also participated in the programme.
Woman found dead in Madhapur hotel, foul play suspected
A 29-year-old private employee was found dead under suspicious circumstances at a hotel in Madhapur, with police suspecting foul play after blood stains were found on the walls and bedsheets. According to Madhapur police, the deceased, identified as Sharon Nikhitha Topno, was brought dead to a private hospital in Kothaguda on Tuesday morning by her boyfriend Srinivasa Ravi Teja, assisted by hotel staff.
Preliminary information revealed Sharon and Ravi Teja, natives of Visakhapatnam, had checked into the hotel on Road No. 5, Siddiquinagar, Madhapur, around 2 pm on Monday. She was later found unconscious and shifted to hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead. Following the incident, Ravi Teja fled and switched off his mobile phone.
The victim’s face bore severe injuries. Blood stains on the walls and bedsheets prompted police to suspect assault. The Clues Team examined the hotel room, securing forensic evidence. Man stabbed to death in drunken brawl
A 40‑year‑old man was stabbed to death and another injured during a drunken brawl at a ground in Jalalbagh in Sangareddy late on Monday. Police arrested the accused, Rahim Fazil, an autorickshaw driver. Police said Fazil and Sani Ansari, 45, a real estate worker, were consuming liquor when an argument broke out. Rahim attacked Fazil with a knife, stabbing him in the abdomen. Police said Rahim and Fazil had fallen out a year ago after Fazil’s uncle objected to their friendship. Delivery executive dies in bus collision
A 22‑year‑old delivery executive died after his bike hit a TSRTC bus at Shalibanda on Tuesday morning. According to Moghalpura police, Md Saddam Ansari was on his way to make a delivery at 8.37 am when his bike collided with the left rear door of the bus (TG 09 Z 0294) while proceeding towards Nagulchinta road. He sustained severe head injuries and died on the spot. Police booked a case based on a complaint from his brother Md Meraj Ansari. The body was shifted to OGH mortuary for post‑mortem and later handed over to family members. A case of rash and negligent driving has been registered.
Chanchalguda Prisoner Escapes From Erragadda Mental Health Facility
A prisoner undergoing treatment at the Institute of Mental Health in Erragadda escaped on Tuesday, Borabanda police said. Kishore Kumar Reddy, 22, serving a sentence at the Chanchalguda Jail, was receiving treatment at the facility in Erragadda. Hailing from Nandimalla in Amarachinta Mandal, Wanaparthy district, he was serving a sentence. Hospital staff noticed his escape and alerted the Borabanda police who registered a case and began looking for him.
Dance group arrested for python act at immersion
Mathuranagar police along with Greater Hyderabad Prevention of Cruelty towards Animals (GHSPCA) on Tuesday arrested a dance group that performed with a python during Ganesh immersion celebrations. A viral video showed a young woman tying a live python around her neck and dancing. SHO H. Prabhakar said the IT cell tracked the group over five days and arrested them.
Police and GHSPCA rescued the python and a chicken from the Vizag‑based group. The python was found to have a severe mouth infection. Cases were registered under the Wildlife Protection Act and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act for endangering human life and causing suffering to the animal. 42-Year-Old Man Convicted for Sexually Assaulting Minor Girl in Chatrinaka
A Special Pocso Act Court here on Tuesday sentenced 42-year-old Raju Alagar Swamy for sexually assaulting an eight-year-old girl in Chatrinaka in 2018. The court directed payment of `2 lakh as compensation to the victim.
According to the prosecution, the incident occurred on August 3, 2018, when the girl was playing outside her house in Saibaba Nagar, Uppuguda, when he lured her into his house. The incident came to light the following day when the girl complained to her mother about pain. Chatrinaka police registered a case and took up the investigation.
