New Delhi: The Delhi Police on Friday termed a newspaper clipping circulating on social media, which falsely claimed the death of CJP’s founder Abhijeet Dipke, as fake and warned of strict legal action against those responsible for creating and sharing misinformation. In a clarification issued through its official social media handle, police said the viral newspaper clipping was fabricated and urged people not to believe or circulate unverified information.
“A fabricated newspaper clipping falsely claiming the death of Abhijeet Dipke is fake. He is fit, healthy and safe. This is malicious and strict legal action will be taken against those creating and spreading such fake content,” police said.
Police appealed to the public to refrain from amplifying unverified claims and advised them to rely only on information released through official sources.
The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP)-led agitation began on June 20 at Jantar Mantar in Delhi and is demanding accountability over alleged irregularities in competitive examinations, reforms in the education system and the resignation of education minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
