HYDERABAD: The Telangana Gig and Platform Workers Union (TGPWU) on Monday demanded strict action after a 24-year-old delivery executive was allegedly assaulted inside an apartment at Karkhana while delivering an order on October 3.
According to the union, D. Ashish Kumar alleged that he was forcibly taken into a flat, attacked with objects and prevented from leaving. TGPWU said Karkhana police registered a case and TGPWU founder-president Shaik Salauddin sought a fair and speedy investigation and protection for Kumar. “Delivery boys are working on the streets every day. They cannot be treated with disrespect, abused or physically attacked while doing their jobs,” he said. The union criticised the online grocery delivery company management over its alleged silence and asked it to support Kumar and cooperate with the investigation.
