DeMarcus Lawrence is retiring after this season.
The longtime Cowboy and Super Bowl Champion with last year’s Seahawks told Yahoo NFL reporter Jori Epstein on Friday that he would be calling it quits after the 2026 season, which will be his 13th in the league.
“It was a tough process,” the defensive superstar said. “But through the grace of God, I’m able to play another year and soak it all up one more good time before I hang it up.”
Lawrence, 34, spent all but the last season in Dallas after being selected by the franchise in the second round (No. 34 overall) in the 2014 NFL Draft.
He earned an All-Pro nod and four Pro Bowl appearances with the Cowboys before earning a fifth with the Seahawks in 2025.
The Boise State alum has 503 career tackles with 67.5 sacks, 24 forced fumbles, 21 pass deflections and two interceptions, including a pick-six in 2021.
Lawrence’s true breakout season in 2017 saw him record 14.5 sacks and finish fourth in Defensive Player of the Year voting.
Last season, Lawrence started all 16 games in Seattle, forcing and recovering three fumbles — two for touchdowns — with six sacks and 53 tackles.
During last year’s playoff run, Lawrence forced three fumbles and recorded two sacks.
