Hyderabad: Desa Squadron was adjudged the Champion Squadron for Spring Term 2026 at the Air Force Academy (AFA), Dundigal, during the Commandant’s Banner Conferment Ceremony held at the Tejas Parade Ground. The Commandant’s Banner is awarded to the overall best-performing squadron at the Academy after a series of competitions covering academics, sports, debate, quiz events, drill contests, cross-country runs, field camps and physical activities.
The concluding event of the competition series was the Inter Squadron Drill Competition, where Naidu Squadron secured the trophy with its drill performance, coordination and teamwork. Flight Cadets and Under Training Flying Officers (UTFOs), dressed in ceremonial uniforms, participated in the parade before senior officers and instructional staff at the Academy. The march past was accompanied by martial tunes from the No. 3 Air Force Band.
Squadron Cadet Captain Flight Cadet Vatan Dhindsa received the Commandant’s Banner on behalf of Desa Squadron from Air Marshal Rahul Bhasin, Commandant, AFA.
Addressing the cadets and UTFOs, the Commandant praised their commitment, discipline, teamwork and sporting spirit. He called on trainees to remain physically fit and mentally agile throughout their service careers in line with the Academy motto, “Shram Se Siddhi”. He also congratulated the instructors and training staff for their role in training cadets and shaping them into future leaders prepared for operational responsibilities.
