Devi Sri Prasad Sings Ravana Thandavam Song From Ramayana

Music composer and singer Devi Sri Prasad (DSP) has lent his vocals to the Telugu version of the Ravana Thandavam song in the upcoming pan-Indian epic film Ramayana. On the auspicious occasion of Dasara, the makers unveiled the track. The song underscores Ravana’s intense devotion through a powerful Shiva Tandav performance.

‘Honoured to Be a Part of Ramayana’

Devi Sri Prasad took to social media and wrote, “Happy to have sung this song #RavanaThandav in the MUSIC of ISAIPUYAL @arrahman Sir… Honoured to be a part of this Magnificent Project #Ramayana Hope U all Love this Track.”

The song promises an immersive cinematic experience for audiences. Yash, who plays Ravana in the film, appears to have a commanding screen presence. The song showcases the grandeur of Lanka and Ravana’s rise as the King of Asuras through striking visuals. AR Rahman’s music complements director Nitesh Tiwari’s vision, while Yash’s performance in the track further heightens anticipation. Devi Sri Prasad’s vocals make the song all the more enchanting.

Background of the Song

In the Ramayana, Ravana was an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva. According to Hindu mythology, the demon king once attempted to lift Mount Kailash out of pride. Shiva then pressed the mountain down with his big toe, trapping Ravana’s fingers. Overwhelmed by pain and in awe of Shiva’s power, Ravana sang hymns praising the deity. These hymns are believed to have become the Shiva Tandava Stotram.

DSP previously composed the song Asura Asura Ravasura for the Jr NTR-starrer Jai Lava Kusa (2017). The blockbuster track describes Ravana’s immense cosmic power, mastery of the Vedas and Ayurveda, and extraordinary control over celestial bodies and weapons.
