Did Marilyn Monroe Become Intimate With The Kennedy Brothers In Succession? They Entered Her Bedroom

Marilyn Monroe was one of the biggest names that dominated Hollywood in the ‘50s and early ‘60s. She was particularly famous for playing comic “Blonde Bombshell” characters, which established her as a sex symbol of her era. 

However, being the epitome of beauty, there had been significant buzz that Marilyn had found herself entangled in affairs with both John F. Kennedy and his brother, Robert Kennedy. Some believe that her affairs were also what caused her death.

If reports are believed to be true, it was Marilyn Monroe’s sultry rendition of Happy Birthday to former President John F. Kennedy that left him captivated with the actress at Madison Square Garden on May 19, 1962. Later, Oscar-winning actress, Shirley MacLaine, who had been present at an afterparty held at the Democratic finance chairman, Arthur Krim’s home, revealed that she had witnessed Marilyn engage in intimacy with the Kennedy Brothers one after the other. According to Shirley, she claimed that JFK was the first one to emerge from a bedroom where Marilyn had been waiting, and soon after he left, Robert Kennedy immediately took his place. In her book, The Wall of Life, Shirkey wrote, recounting the incident:

“Jack Kennedy had just walked out of the bedroom behind me, and Bobby Kennedy had just walked in. Marilyn was in the bedroom.” 

Meanwhile, author, Maureen Callahan, who penned Ask Not: The Kennedys and the Woman They Destroyed, alleged that Marilyn Monroe had become intimate with Robert Kennedy in her dressing room, merely 30 minutes before taking the stage that night. She claimed that Marilyn was intoxicated and “flush with the transgressive sex she’d just had with Bobby.” Apparently, John F. Kennedy remained seated in the audience while being completely aware that Marilyn was growing increasingly obsessed with his younger brother. 

Marilyn Monroe had allegedly threatened to go public with her affairs with the Kennedy brothers 

Before long, Marilyn Monroe’s affairs with the Kennedy brothers started becoming a source of discontentment for her. Reportedly, in the summer of 1962, after feeling desperate, used, and discarded by one of the most powerful families in America, Marilyn threatened to go public with details of her affairs with JFK and Robert Kennedy, a move that could have potentially destroyed the political careers of the two brothers. 

In 2012, Marilyn Monroe’s biographer, James Spada, stated, “It was pretty clear that Marilyn had sexual relations with both Bobby and Jack.” He also noted how it was John F. Kennedy’s brother-in-law, actor, Peter Lawford, who had introduced Marilyn to the former president in 1954 and, almost a decade later, in 1962, facilitated the handoff to Robert Kennedy. 

Did Marilyn Monroe’s feeling rejected by the Kennedy brothers cause her death?

Speculations surrounding Marilyn Monroe’s death are one too many. Reportedly, at the time that Marilyn was found dead in her Los Angeles home, a witness had claimed that a wiretap had recorded the actress’ final and anguished phone calls to Peter Lawford and to JFK. In the end, she left one final message to Peter, saying:

“Say goodbye to Pat. Say goodbye to the president, and say goodbye to yourself because you’re a nice guy.”  

While it isn’t clear if Marilyn Monroe’s death was a suicide, an accidental overdose, or something far more sinister, many believe that some type of cover-up had followed. According to biographers, Anthony Summers and Donald Wolfe, many key figures in Marilyn’s inner circle, including her housekeeper, Eunice Murray; publicist, Pat Newcomb; and Peter Lawford, were never thoroughly interrogated by the police. However, in an interview in 1983, Eunice Murray did confess that Robert Kennedy had visited Marilyn’s home on the night before her death. Confirming their affair, she said at the time, “Oh, why do I keep covering this up?” 

According to Private Investigator, Fred Otash’s unreleased files, which were detailed in the 2024 biography, The Fixer, Marilyn’s home had indeed been bugged, and on the day of her death, the actress confronted Robert Kennedy. She accused him of forcing her to abort his child. Fred claimed that Robert left Marilyn’s house after this with no intention to return ever again, and he left Peter Lawford to clean up any incriminating evidence. This is why many believe that Marilyn might have unalived herself as an actor of desperation. In The Mystery of Marilyn Monroe: The Unheard Tapes, Anthony Summers said:

“I think Marilyn Monroe was overwrought about her relationships with both President Kennedy and his brother, Robert, felt rejected by both men, had a heated argument with Robert when he visited the house, and then – whether as a cry for help or intending to kill herself – swallowed too many pills.” 

Later, Marilyn’s second husband, Joe DiMaggio, had also opened up about his belief that the Kennedys were responsible for his wife’s death. He claimed that the Kennedys were “lady-killers, and they always got away with it.” According to him, the brothers would get away with it even a hundred years from now.
