The recent viral X post involving Lorna Hajdini
Amid the accusations against Lorna Hajdini, an X (formerly Twitter) user named Peter Girnus shared a long post, during which he revealed that he was Lorna’s mentor and he promoted her to being the executive director of JPMorgan. A part of his note can be read as:
“I promoted Lorna Hajdini to Executive Director at JPMorgan because she understood something most bankers never learn. Ownership. Not deal ownership. People ownership. The kind of leadership where you don’t just manage a pipeline. You manage the person building it. Their trajectory. Their compensation. Their future at the firm. Their references when they try to leave. I taught her that. Not at NYU Stern. Not at Harvard. Here. In Leveraged Finance. In my corner office on the forty-second floor with the framed Tombstones from every deal that made this division what it is.”

Further, he described the workplace as a very controlling environment, in which bosses have power over their employees. According to him, seniors ‘own’ their juniors and they can influence their promotions, bonuses and future jobs. Despite this what grabbed attention was that Peter tried to normalise Lorna’s behaviour and explained that this is how things work in the industry. In his words:
“The complainant. A Senior VP in Originations who couldn’t close. He alleges Lorna tied his advancement to “pleasing” her. I’ve read the promotion policy. An Executive Director has full discretion over direct-report advancement recommendations. Full discretion. We designed that authority. It incentivizes loyalty. It builds culture. It creates the kind of deep mentorship relationships that retain top talent.”

Is Peter Girnus’ X post true? Here’s the truth
It is worth noting that Peter’s faced a lot of backlash by netizens for normalising Lorna’s behaviour. One user commented, “Imagine someone writing this if victim was a woman.” Another user penned, “Is this a joke? This post? This is pathetic. You are pathetic. Your industry is pathetic. It exemplifies everything wrong with your company and industry. You speak of ownership? You are a pathetic slave. A slave to rapacious greed and arrogance. I feel sorry for you.”

Even though Peter Girnus’ X post has grabbed a lot of attention, reports suggest that his claims are not true. According to his LinkedIn profile, Peter was never a part of JPMorgan and he is a senior threat researcher at Zero Day Initiative. Apart from this, he has also worked at Sprint, Best Buy and HEB as Overnight Stocker/Grocery Partner. Reportedly, he was even self-employed as Freelance Developer & IT Consultant. On the other hand, Loran Hajdini had a very different career path, suggesting that they have never crossed paths professionally.
