She earlier told a rally at Haldia in East Midnapore, “People of UP and Bihar might come here and vote. We understand these tricks. We will fight with all our might. We are not like other parties. Those who think that they will rig the elections must realise that we too will field our people. We too will watch everything closely.”

Banerjee added, “They are campaigning with CMs and other ministers from all the states where they are in power. However, in tough times, not a single BJP leader is seen. They are only to be seen during the polls.”

Targeting leader of the opposition Suvendu Adhikari, who is contesting at Nandigram apart from Bhowanipore, the CM argued, “You have looted the EVMs in Nandigram last night. It was done in the dark. Counting was manipulated. I know who all assisted you. You have planted your people this time as well.”

She added, “The people of Nandigram did not vote for you last time. The case is pending in the court till date. I could have humiliated you in court. Since I got elected from Bhowanipore, I didn’t pursue the matter. One of the brothers is an MP. You are an MLA. Your entire family is in politics.”

Banerjee then reflected, “I am the only one from my family to contest this Assembly polls. He can’t even fight with Abhishek. In the coming days, Abhishek will take the responsibility of Midnapore. I will also be there. It is our collective responsibility to oust the traitors politically.”

Referring to the incident of police firing in the Left-rule, she pointed out, “When the firing took place in Nandigram, nobody had the guts to enter. But I went there. He (Suvendu) knew what was going to happen in Nandigram. The father-son duo did not step out for 10 days. I was fighting alone. When petrol bombs were hurled at me, they were not there too.”
