Alex Call received a warm welcome from fans at Dodger Stadium just hours after the Los Angeles outfielder made some controversial remarks about risqué advertisements that have been running during MLB games.
Call was introduced to the crowd a few minutes before the Dodgers took on the Brewers on Wednesday in Game 3 of the National League Championship Series, and several got out of their seat to cheer him on.
While the roars were louder for Dodgers stars Max Muncy and Roki Sasaki, it was clear his polarizing remarks about postseason ads did not bother many at Chavez Ravine.
Call first pleaded for an end to the racy MLB advertisements, some of which featured a nearly nude Sydney Sweeney promoting prediction market Novig, on his Twitter page on Tuesday, describing them as “soft porn.”

“Can we please get the soft porn ads off playoff broadcasts, TBS, Fox, NBC, @MLB?” Call wrote. “My son wants to watch baseball with Dada, but how do I justify that when a half-naked women [sic] could come on screen anytime??
“This is America’s Pastime. Parents shouldn’t have to worry about this.”
The post was met with mixed reviews — some social media users agreed, while others argued the revenue from the spots was helping pay his salary.
Call’s yet to further address his statement, but if the response at Dodger Stadium on Wednesday was any indication, Dodgers fans will be backing him regardless.
