Hyderabad:Director-General of Police C.V. Anand on Saturday, at his first review meeting as head of the police force, emphasised the importance of enforcing vehicle speed control and adherence to safety standards. He also said Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had directed him to advise police officials against stopping traffic for his convoys for too long.

He was addressing the officials in view of recent accidents on the Outer Ring Road, and protests by motorists who were stopped for a long period for VIP convoys. He noted that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had expressed serious concern over the police stopping traffic for VIP convoys and directed the police to take strict measures to avoid it.

Anand directed officials to ensure minimal inconvenience to motorists and the general public across the capital. Present at the meeting were joint commissioners of police and deputy commissioners of police of the traffic wing in the GHMC limits.

Anand undertook a comprehensive review of the traffic conditions in the city and emphasised the need for better coordination among various departments to ensure effective traffic management.

The DGP advised officers to adopt dynamic strategies in response to the steadily increasing traffic volume and to implement strict control measures wherever necessary.

Anand announced that the state government was in the process of establishing a Traffic Management and Road Safety Bureau to further strengthen road safety mechanisms, and it would become operational soon.

Anand also instructed officials to intensify enforcement drives against traffic violations, particularly drunk driving, and non-compliance with helmet and seat belt regulations.

He stressed the importance of regular inspections to ensure adherence to traffic rules. Future City joint commissioner of police, traffic, Chandana Deepti, along with Traffic DCPs Rahul Hegde, Kajal Singh, Rahul Reddy, Avinash Kumar, Seshadrini Reddy, Srinivas, and other senior officials, attended the meeting.
