Love Island’s Dr Alex George has announced that he is engaged to a unnamed woman in a post where he shared the ‘ups and downs’ he’d experienced since being on the ITV show in 2018
Love Island’s Dr Alex George is engaged. The series four contestant announced via Instagram that he and a mystery woman, whose name has not been revealed, are set to be married.
The former ITV star shared a photo to both his main account and his second account, dralexoffduty, where he and his new fiancée kissed while she showed off the ring on her finger.
The picture was followed by snaps of them together, including one of a camera that was capturing the moment Dr Alex got down on one knee. As he and his fiancée posed, the stunning landscape of Santorini was behind them. This is one of the few times fans have been able to see his mystery partner’s face, as he has often hidden her face with emojis to protect her identity.
Dr Alex captioned the post with sweet words, calling his fiancée his “forever”. He said: “I found her. The ring… The moment… My forever.”
He also added a message in the comments about how “happy” he was after eight years of “ups and downs” following his time on Love Island. “I feel like you all know and have seen, maybe even felt, the ups and downs of the last 8 or so years,” he said. “And it therefore feels even more special to share this moment with you. I am happy. She has a beautiful soul.”
The photos also appeared on his Stories, where he simply wrote over the top: “My dear friends… I have some news…”
He was flooded by support in the comments, including from Laura Anderson, who was also on series four of Love Island, who wrote: “All my love and luck in the world. I couldn’t be happier for you.”
Josh Denzel added: “Wow congrats brother! Buzzing for you both.” While Megan Barton Hanson said: “Congratulations beyond happy for you both.”
Dr Alex rose to fame in 2018, when he appeared in Love Island. He was not able to find a connection during his series. After leaving the show, he struggled with his mental health and subsequently quote working as an a A&E doctor to instead focus on mental health advocacy.
Dr Alex is one of many Islanders to announce their engagement recently. Georgia Steel got engaged to her footballer fiancé Harry Clarke in May 2026, while series seven’s Sharon Gaffka got engaged to Matthew Torbit in December 2025.
Several Islanders who met on the show are also engaged, include All Stars winners Molly Smith and Tom Clare, who will be getting married in August this year, series nine’s Jessie Wynter and Will Young, and series eleven’s Uma Jammeh and Will Anderson.
Lucie Donlan, from series five, and Luke Mabbott, from series six, were both on Love Island but met afterwards and got engaged in December 2021.
